Election of Chairperson

To elect a Chairperson of the Committee for the Municipal Year.

Minutes:

Councillor L J Haywood proposed that Councillor A S Fluker be elected as Chairperson of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee (O&S). This proposal was duly seconded.

 

Councillor R H Siddall proposed that Councillor N D Spenceley be elected as Chairperson of the O&S. This proposal was duly seconded.

 

There being two nominations a vote was taken. As there was an equality of votes the Chairperson exercised his casting vote in support of Councillor Fluker.

 

It was therefore:

 

RESOLVED that Councillor A S Fluker be appointed Chairperson of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee for the Municipal Year.

Appointment of Vice-Chairperson

To appoint a Vice-Chairperson of the Committee for the Municipal Year.

Minutes:

Councillor N J Swindle proposed that Councillor N D Spenceley be elected as Vice-Chairperson of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee (O&S). This proposal was duly seconded.

 

Councillor E L Stephens proposed that Councillor L J Haywood be elected as Vice-Chairperson of the O&S. This proposal was duly seconded.

 

There being two nominations a vote was taken. In the vote for Councillor Spenceley there was an equality of votes and the Chairperson exercised his casting vote against the vote for Councillor Spenceley as Vice-Chairperson. Following a vote for Councillor Haywood the Chairperson declared that Councillor Haywood was elected as Vice-Chairperson of the O&S.

 

RESOLVED that Councillor L J Haywod be appointed Vice-Chairperson of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee for the Municipal Year.

 

At this point the Chairperson commented that he wished to align himself with he Comments made by the Chairperson of the Council during the Statutory Annual meeting of the Council regarding former Councillor Peter Elliott. As he would also be the Chairperson of the O&S (meeting as the Crime and Disorder Committee) he took the opportunity to wish Chief Constable B J Harrington a long and healthy retirement and expressed his gratitude for the support given during challenging times, including agreeing to a police hub at the Council offices.
